Cindy Aitken is our Office Manager and Executive Administrator, with expertise in Human Resources and Administration. Cindy’s primary responsibilities at VanTrust include those that enable our team and office to operate effectively and efficiently. She is responsible for ongoing office operations, procedures and resources. In addition, Cindy serves as executive assistant to VanTrust President, Dave Harrison.

Cindy has nearly twenty years of experience in the field of human resources. Significant career assignments prior to joining VanTrust include positions with Hallmark Cards in Kansas City as Director, Corporate Education & Training, Corporate Divisions HR Manager, and Professional Staffing and College Relations Manager. She has also held positions in the HR functions of Baxter Healthcare in Chicago and Tenneco, Inc. in Houston. Most recently, Cindy did human resources consulting work with a Kansas City based firm. She considers her most compelling experience to date spending several years as a full-time mom.

Cindy graduated with the highest of honors from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. She also graduated from the University of Kansas Hallmark/KU Executive Leadership Program. She has been a member of the Midwest College and Rocky Mountain College Placement Associations, former chair of Shawnee Mission School District College Clinic Program, as well as founding member for the Learning & Development Best Practices Organization.

With more than 20 years experience in Commercial Real Estate and Development experience, Steve Backman focuses on real estate development opportunities throughout the Arizona, Southern Nevada and California regions. His affluence in Western US development and redevelopment opportunities with and background in project feasibility, entitlements, project budgeting, finance, design and construction management are uniquely remarkable.

At VanTrust, Steve will leverage his experience to oversee project feasibility, market analysis, site acquisition, entitlements, project budgeting and finance, and design and construction management for the Southwest Region.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Steve was President of Cardon Development Group in Phoenix, Arizona. At Cardon he led the day-to-day operations of the company while overseeing the execution of mixed-use and land development opportunities. Previous experience also includes Vice President of Development and Construction at Rouse Properties, a publically-traded real estate investment trust (NYSE: RSE) with a focus on the redevelopment of regional enclosed malls, RED Development, a national leader in power centers, lifestyle centers and land developments. At the start of his development career, Steve oversaw development efforts for various retail and land developments across the Southwest and Midwest regions, including project feasibility, entitlements, project budgeting and finance, and design and construction management for their Phoenix-based retail and land developments.

Steve received a Masters in Real Estate Development while attending Arizona State University. He remains active in the real estate industry through his involvement with ULI, ICSC, and Arizona State University’s Masters in Real Estate Development programs.

Bill Baumgardner is a commercial developer and licensed broker with an in-depth background in commercial real estate business coupled with expertise in development, construction, tenant representations, leasing and sales. Bill has the innate ability to meet a customer’s need and budgetary requirements with the highest possible value and product available. He also has experience in coordinating legal, financial and construction requirements for transactions. As Vice President of Development at VanTrust, Bill will utilize his client-focused approach in development programs to create value and performance for clients throughout the Midwest.

At VanTrust, Bill’s focus includes the development of several industrial and office projects, as well as other urban infill opportunities throughout the Ohio region. His primary responsibilities are to ensure that VanTrust’s short and long-term development goals and objectives are met through proper site selection, acquisition, and development of new, build-to-suit and speculative opportunities. Prior to joining VanTrust, Bill was with Colliers International and The Pizzuti Companies. He has over 20 years of development experience and has played a major role in the development, leasing and sales of major instructional grade office and industrial projects. He has overseen the development and leasing of nearly 15-million square feet of industrial and office projects. Bill has been active in numerous industrial and office sales, completing more than 25-million square feet of transactions. He also worked for the Danter Company, a leading real estate research firm, as a field analyst where he conducted market feasibility reports for a host of real estate projects throughout the United States.

Bill is a graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in Business Administration. He holds an Ohio real estate license and is a member of National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), National, Ohio and Columbus Association of Realtors, Columbus 2020. He is also the past president of the Central Ohio NAIOP Chapter.

As Controller for VanTrust Real Estate, Ryan Bennett is responsible for all accounting functions across the various projects and service lines. Specific responsibilities include internal and external financial reporting and compliance, developing and monitoring operational budgets, project job-costing, debt compliance and operations analysis.

Ryan worked with the VanTrust group for 4 years at the Park Place development in Leawood, KS prior to joining the team full-time in January 2013. He has nearly 15 years’ experience in the public and private accounting sectors in the Kansas City and Chicago markets. In addition to real estate, Ryan has accounting experience across a variety of industries including financial services, engineering, telecommunications as well as Big Four public accounting audit experience.

Ryan is a Certified Public Accountant with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Kansas. He also holds a Masters in Business Administration with a finance concentration from the University of Kansas.

Anthony (Tony) joined VanTrust in 2016 to make significant contributions to current projects throughout the southwest region. Tony has been in the commercial real estate construction and development for more than 20 years and has worked with the Van Tuyl Group and its affiliates since 1999.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Tony managed a vast array of projects for Van Tuyl from raw land purchase, entitlement and development to redevelopment of existing facilities. He also managed the construction of the FEMA-approved Raw Hide Channel project as part of a LOMR in Scottsdale, Arizona. Tony’s portfolio of projects contains more than half a million square feet of retail development and leasing as well as automotive dealership remodels and new development and construction across the nation.

Tony graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and is married with 2 children, a girl and a boy. He spends his personal time coaching sports, leading a Cub Scout Den and enjoys making, fixing and building things.

Sandy has more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, most of that acting as outside counsel for developers.

At VanTrust, Sandy will provide legal services to all of VanTrust’s offices and will provide development services to VanTrust’s Phoenix office.

Prior to joining VanTrust in 2015, Sandy was a Shareholder at Gallagher & Kennedy, P.A., one of Arizona’s largest full-service law firms. He served as the head of Gallagher & Kennedy’s Real Estate Transactional Group from 2008 until he joined VanTrust. Sandy has experience in all types of commercial real estate transactions, including transactions relating to mixed-use, office, industrial, multi-family residential and retail properties. He also has extensive experience in negotiation and drafting commercial lease agreements, commercial purchase and sale agreements (for both improved and unimproved property), commercial financing documents, development agreements, easements, CC&Rs and other types of agreements required for all manner of commercial real estate transactions. Sandy has handled transactions on several Indian communities in both Arizona and California. Sandy has negotiated leases with national retail tenants, assisted borrower clients with securitized loans, synthetic leases and joint venture agreements and has foreclosed and enforced secured loans.

Sandy has a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics from the University of Arizona and a Juris Doctorate, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Arizona, College of Law.

Sandy is a member of the Board of Directors of The Tungland Corporation, which provides support services for children, adolescents, adults and elders, ranging from residential community-based services, day treatment programs, in-home respite, habilitation and attendant care to specialized living arrangements, foster or host homes, counseling, consulting, and employment/vocational support services. Sandy has served as an allocations volunteer with the Valley of the Sun United Way. Sandy is also a member of the State Bar of Arizona, Real Property Section and Indian Law Section; a member of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies, and a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP).

At VanTrust, he is responsible for VanTrust Real Estate development and investment in the Florida region, focusing primarily on Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa.

Prior to founding Whitehall, John was President and COO of Flagler Development Company (NYSE:FLA). Prior to Flagler, John held executive positions with the St. Joe Company and Trammell Crow Company. He began his career as a CPA with Price Waterhouse.

As Senior Vice President of Design Services for VanTrust, Bob Carli is responsible for the planning, design and coordination of development projects across all VanTrust offices. This includes coordination and interaction with internal development services team members as well as external team members such as land owners, government agencies, tenants, brokers, architects, engineers, construction managers, and property managers. He is ultimately responsible for the successful execution of each project and its design from initial concept through completion.

Bob was brought up in the architecture business, and worked in his father’s architecture firm through high school, college and post-graduation. In addition to his apprenticeship with his father, Bob has more than 30 years of experience with other companies specializing in design, construction, and real estate development. He has managed all facets of the development process from initial project feasibility through design, construction, and project close-out.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Bob was responsible for the acquisition, design and construction of more than 40 automobile dealerships within the Van Tuyl Group. Bob also spent more than 12 years with Opus West Corporation where he was responsible for the design of more than 21 million square feet of commercial, industrial, retail, institutional and multi-family developments in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and Texas.

Bob is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Architecture degree, and is a past instructor of design and perspective drawing at Rio Hondo College. Bob is a licensed architect in the State of Arizona.

Mike Conn joined VanTrust Real Estate, LLC in December 2012. He is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for the various VanTrust Real Estate, LLC owned entities as well as select third party assignments and development pursuits. Additionally, Mike is responsible for the management of corporate operations.

Prior to joining VanTrust Real Estate, LLC, Mike spent 28 years with the local office of Colliers International and predecessor organizations. He was Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer and headed the property management and accounting departments. He also had financial responsibility for the firm’s operating entities and was responsible for employee benefits administration.

Throughout his career, Mike has worked closely with a variety of clients, including financial institutions, pension funds, insurance companies, limited partnerships and individual owners. Projects involved have included office, retail, mixed use, medical and industrial.

Mike graduated with high honors from the University of Arkansas with a BSBA degree in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).

Jeff Dillon is responsible for the acquisition and disposition activities of VanTrust pursuant to a disciplined investment strategy. Typical transactions consist of all forms of commercial real estate in Columbus, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Phoenix and beyond, exceed $10 million and are underwritten using a variety of metrics. Since joining VanTrust in 2011, Jeff has been involved with a variety of development and investment opportunities and has significant experience with entitlement, public incentives, contract negotiations and design/construction management.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Jeff was Vice President of Goldberg Properties, Inc., a retail development company in Denver, Colorado. Prior to that, Jeff was an attorney with Shughart, Thomson & Kilroy, PC in the real estate and general corporate practice groups. In that capacity, Jeff negotiated real estate sales, acquisitions, leases and exchanges, analyzed title defects, surveys, environmental reports and arranged permanent and construction loan financing for a variety of clients.

Jeff has a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from the University of Kansas, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law and a Master’s of Science with Honors in Real Estate and Construction Management from the University of Denver Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management at the Daniels College of Business.

As Director of Development for VanTrust Real Estate, Justin Duff’s responsibilities include evaluating build-to-suit and speculative development opportunities, oversight of the design and construction teams, communication with municipalities and neighborhoods, project economics, as well as successful project delivery.

Justin has ten years of experience in both real estate development and construction management. At VanTrust, he is responsible for delivery of the 10-story, 254,000-square-foot Class A+ office building, including a six-level 940-stall underground parking garage, located at Plaza Vista, a mixed-use development at the west edge of the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. The building is anchored by the law office of Polsinelli Shughart. Justin is also responsible for development of the Lodge at Highlands Village, a multi-family project located in Overland Park, Kansas.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Justin served as Project Manager for Opus Northwest Construction. While at Opus, he was responsible for the successful delivery of many projects including the National Board for Respiratory Care/Applied Measurement Professionals corporate headquarters building in Olathe, Kansas and the Kansas State University School of Leadership Studies building, located in Manhattan, Kansas.

CityScape is a mixed-use urban project that includes more than one million square feet of class A office, retail, restaurants, a Kimpton Palomar hotel and residential apartments. Keith also spent 11 years with Opus West Corporation where he was responsible for the development of more than five million square feet in Arizona, Nevada, California and Utah. During his tenure with Opus, he developed one million square feet of specialty retail and power centers, one million square feet of industrial distribution space, and more than three million square feet of Class A office. Keith began his development career as Vice President with Trammell Crow Company overseeing leasing and management of over two million square feet of projects in Greater Phoenix, Tucson and San Diego.

Keith is a graduate of Arizona State University, College of Business Administration with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He is a licensed Arizona Real Estate broker and served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Valley Partnership. Keith is currently a member of ICSC, ULI, and NAIOP. She started her career working in the public sector for the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri where she worked on numerous planning and real estate development projects ranging from the management and implementation of large scale tax increment financing (TIF) redevelopment plans and Community Improvement Districts (CID’s), to the rehabilitation of individual properties involving historic tax credits, tax abatement and other public incentive programs. Following a transition to the private sector, Kelli has focused primarily on the development aspects of real estate projects, performing development feasibility analyses, financial projections involving public incentives, development programming and overseeing the local entitlement process.

Kelli is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy and a Master of Urban Planning degree from the KU School of Architecture. She is a licensed real estate agent in the states of Missouri and Kansas and is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). Tyler Ford’s involvement with VanTrust began while he was completing his MBA at Ohio State University where he worked in conjunction with the Columbus VanTrust team in completing a variety of development tasks. His role required the evaluation of new business opportunities, financial analysis, and preconstruction due diligence. Upon receiving his MBA with a focus in Corporate Finance, Tyler stayed with VanTrust to continue providing these valuable assets to the Columbus team. Tyler also supports leasing efforts on VanTrust projects.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Tyler worked in the silicones and adhesives division of Momentive Performance Materials where he sourced chemicals from national and global locations. He completed his undergraduate degree in Engineering at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Tyler is actively involved in the Central Ohio chapter of NAIOP, serving as a Developing Leader, and is a supporter of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.

Cathy Hammer’s generalist responsibilities ultimately will involve managing the construction and permanent loan sourcing process and helping the Chief Financial Officer in his emerging operations department.

Cathy previously worked for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) endowment office in their real estate department preparing monthly, quarterly and annual performance reporting for funds and direct investments, and creating marketing materials for a $1.9 billion real estate portfolio. She completed her undergraduate work in Economics at Boston University, and then completed her real estate studies at Boston University with certificates in Real Estate Finance and Commercial Real Estate. During Cathy’s time at MIT she was involved in the marketing and administration efforts of many notable projects.

Tracy Hammer is a commercial construction project management executive with in-depth experience with providing value to clients through the development, management and leadership of project management construction teams. Tracy has a successful track record in managing large office, industrial, healthcare, hospitality and retail projects throughout the western United States. He is recognized for his ability to develop and lead, design/build project management construction teams. As Senior Director of Development Services at VanTrust, Tracy will utilize his client-focused approach in development programs to create value and performance for clients throughout the Southwest.

At VanTrust, Tracy will plan and execute real estate, development and construction solutions in the Phoenix and surrounding areas. His focus includes leveraging his experience to conduct site feasibility and site due diligence studies, secure timely entitlements, identify and close new business opportunities, and build highly motivated project construction management teams.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Tracy was Senior Project Manager with Patrinely Group where he served as exclusive representative to the owner of a $161 million dollar office campus expansion project in north Phoenix. Prior to that, he was Vice President at McShane Construction Company where he spent 10 years leading the western region with profit and loss accountability and was responsible for strategic planning and pursuit of business development opportunities. He has 28 years of development, design and construction-related experience, and has played a major role in some of the most significant developments to date in the Southwest.

Tracy graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. He currently holds an OSHA 30-hour certification and is a member of NAIOP.

Jamie Heusser joined VanTrust in 2014. She provides administrative support and serves as project liaison to the Phoenix office team as well as general office management. She is responsible for organizing, maintaining and reporting action items and documentation as they pertain to overall design, development, construction and the subsequent leasing/sale of all projects in the Southwest region.

Prior to joining VanTrust Real Estate, Jamie spent nine years at RED Development providing administrative support at the Executive level for the Development and Marketing teams, aiding in market research, acquisition and sale due diligence, contract assembly, tenant tracking, and social media application management. Within those nine years, Jamie served two years as the Coordinator at CityCenter of CityNorth during RED’s tenure as the managing agent for that property. In her role as Coordinator, she was involved with tenant relations, special event coordination and budget maintenance.

Jamie received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management at Yvapai Community College. She is an annual volunteer/participant in the Susan G. Komen and “Go Red for Women” fundraising campaigns and an active volunteer with Paradise Valley North Little League.

Karl has nineteen years of commercial development and construction experience in a wide variety of product types including office, industrial, retail, medical office, multi-family residential, and institutional. Prior to joining VanTrust, Karl oversaw project management for an integrated design-build firm where he was responsible for design management and project delivery. Karl has managed the procurement and delivery of over 2 million square feet of office, medical, and institutional space, in addition to his industrial experience.

Karl graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from MarQuette University. He is a licensed engineer and Past-President of the Marquette Alumni Club of Kansas City. As Senior Director of Development Services for VanTrust’s Dallas office, Terry brings with him more than 30 years of real estate experience, including a broad range of roles from construction and development management to property management and facilities engineering. Terry works closely with marketing and management teams to present company capabilities in project management, construction management and development management throughout the Texas region. In his role at VanTrust, Terry will identify opportunities for new investment and development, work to secure entitlements and approvals, develop preliminary concept plans, prepare project budgets and schedules, and ensure project delivery to owner as promised.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Terry spent nearly twelve years at Crestone Development Services as Senior Vice President of Construction. In his time there, he lead his project team through design, estimating, permit and construction phases, coordinated team meetings, managed project schedules and budgets, negotiated contracts and leases, and managed owner expectations for project performance.

Terry’s career began in Construction after receiving his Bachelor of Science at Oklahoma State University. He quickly moved up from field superintendent to estimator and project manager, giving him the foundation and unique perspective to make him a success throughout his career. He has traveled all over the United States, involved in projects such as rebuilding three shopping centers after hurricane Andrew, the renovation of a 36-story mixed-use occupied building in Philadelphia, and more.

Terry has been project manager for two developments that were awarded “Project of the Year”, one in Dallas and one in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Geoff also worked as Director of Real Estate Development for Opus West Corporation where he completed developments exceeding $200 million in value. During his career, Geoff has been responsible for site acquisition and development of more than 5,000,000 square feet of Office/Industrial space.

Geoff graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bellevue University. He is a member of the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors and Real Estate Professionals (NTCAR), the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP). As Director of Development for the Dallas VanTrust office, Chris McCluskey’s primary responsibilities include the identification, evaluation and execution of development and build-to-suit opportunities in VanTrust’s primary asset classes within the Texas market. Additional duties include coordination with municipalities, lease negotiations and management of architects, engineers, consultants and contractors.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Chris was a Project Manager in the Land Development department at Jacobs Engineering. In his tenure there, he was responsible for the oversight and direction of engineering designs, due diligence, feasibility packages and completion of surveying services for a variety of product types.

Chris has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration degree with a minor in Real Estate and Finance from Southern Methodist University. Chris is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and is currently registered as a LEED Accredited Professional with expertise in the design and construction phases of green buildings.

Tom McGee is a commercial developer and broker with a unique understanding of and background in Missouri law. Tom has been involved in various roles in the development, construction and real estate industries since the late 1980s and brings a wide range experience to VanTrust. As Vice President of Development, Tom will assist with commercial development programs at VanTrust as well as the company’s efforts to secure acquisition and development opportunities in and around Kansas City’s region.

At VanTrust, Tom’s focus includes the development of 51st & Oak, a mixed-use development, East Village Project in downtown Kansas City and other urban infill opportunities such as Washington Park. His primary responsibilities are to ensure that VanTrust’s short and long term development goals and objectives are met through proper site selection, acquisition, and development of new, build-to-suit and speculative opportunities.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Tom spent the last 25 years with DST Realty and has commercial real estate development experience around the nation in a wide variety of product types including office, industrial, and multifamily. At DST Realty, Tom developed office and/or industrial projects in Kansas City, Missouri; Hartford, Connecticut; Sacramento, California and Toronto, Canada. Tom also assisted in the development of the Kirkwood residential project just south of the Country Club Plaza.

Tom is a graduate of Georgetown University with a degree in Government and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. He holds a Missouri Broker license and is a Member of the Missouri Bar. Tom is a lifelong Kansas City resident, actively involved in numerous civic and not-for-profit organizations. He is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees of Rockhurst High School and is a board member of the Truman Library Institute.

Tracy Mickey joined the VanTrust Jacksonville office at its inception in 2016. As the Executive Administrative Assistant, she supports all members of the Jacksonville team and is responsible for the operational activities of the office, assisting in all aspects of development projects throughout the Florida region.

With almost 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, Tracy spent the majority of her career at Flagler Development Company where she was promoted to a variety of positions in the legal, construction, development, cell tower, and brokerage divisions. Tracy’s success in her career at Flagler eventually advanced her into the office manager role. Her prior legal assistance roles at the Jacksonville law firms of LeBouef Lamb Greene & MacRae LLP and Fischette, Owen, Held & McBurney laid the groundwork for her success.

In May 2016, Tracy graduated with high honors from Florida State College at Jacksonville with an Associates in Arts degree. She is also a licensed real estate agent in the State of Florida.

Outside of the office, Tracy and her husband, Leland, are the proud parents of five children. She is also active in supporting the Children’s Home Society of Jacksonville, Be the Match (National Bone Marrow Registry), and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

As Executive Vice President of Kansas City, Rich oversees the VanTrust commercial development program and leads the company’s efforts to secure new build-to-suit and speculative development opportunities in Kansas City and the surrounding region.

At VanTrust, in collaboration with brokers, designers, end users, and the various local municipalities, Rich is actively involved in the development of a variety of product types including: office, industrial, retail, multifamily and mixed-use projects. Presently, he is engaged in the oversight and delivery of multiple development projects totaling in excess of $250 million.

Rich is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master of Science in Business Administration, Finance. Prior to joining VanTrust, Marc was a Partner/Owner of Whitehall Realty Partners, a Jacksonville based development and investment firm, where he and his partners successfully developed, stabilized and sold a wide range of real estate assets in the Southeastern United States.

Before Whitehall Realty Partners, Marc was Vice President for Daniel Corporation where he was responsible for the development and construction of projects in Florida. Marc has also held management positions with LandMar (former division of Crescent Resources), CBL and Associates, Hardin Construction, and Hoar Construction. Marc has significant experience in direct oversight of construction projects as well as building and managing development budgets and proformas. In addition to multifamily and senior living, he also has experience in office, industrial, retail, theme parks, parking structures and interior build-outs. He is involved in National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Chamber of Commerce Leadership Orlando Alumni.

David brings with him more than 26 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate and Development. Over the past two and a half decades, David has provided design and project management for complex development projects across Kansas City and gained an acute understanding of the needs of owners, developers and builders that has repeatedly resulted in successful projects for his clients and the community. He is committed to fostering a collaborative work environment and delivering results.

At VanTrust, David will use his keen insight and attention to detail to oversee project design, development and project management throughout the Midwest region.

David is a graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Licensed Architect in both Kansas and Missouri. He has served on the board of directors for the Downtown Council of Kansas City, the National Institute of Construction Excellence, and he was past president, executive board member for KC Downtowners. His commitment to the ongoing revitalization of Kansas City is reflected in his professional portfolio of work, as well as his ongoing involvement with an array of civic organizations.

As Executive Vice President of Development Services for VanTrust, Bret Sheffield directs the development process throughout the life of the project. This includes interaction and coordination with internal and external team members such as land owners, brokers, government agencies, lenders, engineers, architects, construction managers and property managers. As a part of the real estate division, Bret is involved in land transactions, redevelopment projects, build-to-suits, tenant leases, and strategic planning. He is responsible for the successful delivery of projects from concept through disposition.

Bret has been engaged in commercial real estate development, construction and architecture since 1987. He has managed the development of projects including entitlements, due diligence, financial feasibility and incentives.
 
Bret leads the Development Services group for all VanTrust markets. This includes guidance of all design and construction activities, city entitlements, and commissioning. All activities related to he physical delivery of the projects. The Development Services professionals work closely with the Development and Asset Management groups to deliver the project on budget, on schedule, with high quality.

Bret graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies. He later received his Master of Science in Land Development from the Texas A&M University College. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, where he teaches graduate level development and construction. He is also on the Board of Directors for the CCIM Kansas City Chapter.

As Executive Vice President of Asset Management for VanTrust, Jeff Smith ensures operational performance in accordance with the investment and development objectives for all completed projects as well as those under development. This involves working with internal and external team members including property managers, leasing agents, accountants, construction managers, architects and numerous vendors providing various operational services to the assets. Jeff also interfaces with internal financial sources to determine hold/sell strategies and to evaluate projects for possible redevelopment.

Jeff has more than 30 years’ experience in the Asset/Property management areas, overseeing billions of dollars’ worth of assets located throughout the U.S., the Caribbean and Latin America. His major institutional clients have included Goldman Sachs Whitehall, MONY, Met Life, Aetna, Federated Department Stores, JMB and Macerich. Jeff has been involved with a wide variety of project types including retail, office, industrial, residential, mixed-use, hospitality, recreation and land.

Jeff graduated from the University of Arizona, Tuscon with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Christy was a Senior Financial Analyst, gaining experience both at Sprint and at Embarq Corporation, where she managed insurance fees, risk management and environmental health and safety cost center budgets. Her proficiency in preparing annual budgets and forecasts, analyzing and reporting variances, and developing and communicating allocation factors and methodologies makes her a perfect fit for her role in VanTrust.

Christy is a graduate of Missouri Western State College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In 2007, she received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Webster University.

Jeff Turk is responsible for ensuring successful delivery of projects in all regions, product types and markets served by VanTrust Real Estate.

Jeff has more than twenty years of commercial development and construction experience in a wide variety of product types including office, industrial, retail, gaming, hospitality, housing, military and institutional. He has successfully completed projects utilizing every delivery method, in numerous national markets. Prior to joining VanTrust, Jeff was the Vice President of Operations for a large commercial general contractor where he was responsible for regional bottom line results.

Jeff has served the Mid America Region of the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA-MAR) as President, Vice President, Treasurer and as a principal member of the Education and Research Committee. He has written articles and spoken to numerous groups on the principles and benefits of the design-build delivery method and has been an instructor for DBIA’s designation program. In 2004, Jeff was recognized by the DBIA as a Designated Design-Build ProfessionalTM. He has worked on over 15 Design-Build projects in his career including the award winning design-build projects Zona Rosa and the U.S. Central Credit Union Headquarters.

The U.S. Green Building Council has recognized Jeff as a LEED Accredited Professional. He has worked on over 10 Green Building projects throughout his career, including multiple LEED Gold and award winning projects.

Raif Webster is a Registered Land Architect and is recognized by the USGBC as a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional. He brings with him more than 17 years experience in real estate development and construction. He has extensive experience in land entitlements, project planning, architectural design, preconstruction, project management, scheduling, and contracting. As Senior Director of Development Services, Raif is responsible for the successful delivery of VanTrust projects in the Ohio Valley region.

At VanTrust, Raif incorporates his experience in architecture and environmental design to transform construction and development projects into best-in-class enterprise strategies. He is presently engaged in a variety of product types and projects in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. He will continue to focus his efforts in securing acquisition and development opportunities throughout Ohio and the surrounding region.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Raif served as System Director of Design and Construction for OhioHealth where he was responsible for the overall management on all design and construction activities within central Ohio’s largest health system. Leading a staff of directors and project managers with an annual capital budget of $125M to $150M, he was responsible for planning, budgets, and management of all capital projects. Raif also spent 12 years with Duke Realty Corporation overseeing similar commercial development projects. During his career, Raif has successfully competed a wide range of projects including office, industrial, medical, retail, and mixed-use developments.

Raif is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. He has been a guest lecturer on land acquisition and development for The Ohio State University’s, Fisher College of Business MBA program. Raif is also an active member of NAIOP.

Andy Weeks’ primary responsibilities involve the identification, investigation and management of new build-to-suit and speculative development opportunities in Columbus and the surrounding region.

Andy has over fifteen years of commercial real estate experience in a wide variety of product types including office, industrial and senior housing. He has completed projects with an aggregate value of over $300 million in several different markets across the country. Prior to joining VanTrust, Andy was the Vice President of Real Estate Development at Opus North Corporation where he was responsible for the development and leasing of over four million square feet of commercial projects in Columbus and Cincinnati. Prior to that, Andy managed the real estate department of a publicly traded senior housing company and oversaw the development of 25 senior housing projects across the nation.

Andy is a graduate of Furman University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He is active in the Central Ohio community and has served on the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, the Central Ohio NAIOP Board of Directors, Upper Arlington Civic Association, and Ohio Economic Development Association. As Assistant Controller for VanTrust Real Estate, Mike Wirtz is responsible for supporting accounting and finance operations across the business. He supports internal and external reporting, internal control application, budgeting, project accounting, accounting system design and integration and debt analysis and compliance.

Prior to joining VanTrust, Mike spent 5 years with the Boeing Company at their Defense Space and Security headquarters in St. Louis. His responsibilities included roles in cost accounting, financial analysis, internal audit and SEC reporting. Prior to joining Boeing, Mike worked for a real estate investor in the St. Louis area supporting the accounting operations.

Mike is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He graduated with honors from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting and Finance. Mike also received a Master’s in Business Administration from Saint Louis University.

Anzie Yangmi is the “face of VanTrust”. She provides a wide variety of administrative and staff support services. Anzie is the first point of contact for guests as she handles all incoming phone calls, coordinates meetings and makes hospitality arrangements. Anzie also offers administrative support to the Development and Development Services staff, and assists with marketing events and projects.

Prior to joining the VanTrust team, Anzie served as Administrative Assistant/Contributions Handler at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City where she handled contributions for the Children’s Wall project and various other donor events.

Julie Yangmi oversees the planning, development, and execution of VanTrust’s marketing, advertising and event activities. Key areas of responsibility include marketing communications, coordination with VanTrust’s local public relations team, and marketing of specific events including broker relations functions, project-specific events and tradeshows.

Julie is also involved in VanTrust’s business development support. In particular, she is responsible for maintaining all marketing materials and assisting with the production of requests for proposals and requests for qualifications submittals. In addition, Julie provides graphic, print design, and desktop publishing support for marketing and executive team projects. Julie has worked with the VanTrust development team since 2006. Along with the team, she has been involved in the marketing and administration efforts of many notable development projects.

Julie is a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Business and a minor in Marketing.

Amanda Zuurdeeg supports the Columbus office and plays a vital role, ensuring effective and efficient operations. She is responsible for the collaboration of project and team management, as well as resource coordination for marketing materials dedicated to the Ohio Region. Prior to joining VanTrust, Amanda worked as an Administrative Assistant at JLL. Amanda also dedicated herself to marketing efforts at JLL and prepared materials for client tours.

Previously, Amanda was also a Program Coordinator in the Department of Physics at The Ohio State University. At Ohio State, she supported the research groups of eight condensed matter and biophysics professors and the Center for Exploration of Novel Complex Materials. During her time in the Physics Department, Amanda worked with budgets, both university and federal. She was responsible for making complex travel arrangements for professors and students, national and internationally.

Amanda is a graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies. During her time outside of work, Amanda is an avid rower with the Greater Columbus Rowing Association. In addition to rowing competitively with the team, Amanda has served as the Secretary for the club. Amanda has spent the past three years volunteering at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio’s annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event.
